About Me | Claire Craven | Osteopath Sutton
CLAIRE CRAVEN D.O. Claire graduated from the renowned British School of Osteopathy in London in 1991 and has practiced from her home in Cheam ever since. Claire has also been a principal practitioner of Wallington Osteopaths since 2006.
Claire is passionate about her work and through years of enthusiastic application of knowledge and experience has developed approaches for treatments applicable to a large range of patients.
Claire’s interests lie in the relationship between mind and body and enjoying helping patients overcome problems due to stress, tension and postural strain. Treating a wide range of patients for problems associated with work and life related stresses, post operative re-habilitation, accident recovery, sporting injuries and arthritic conditions. Claire has found success in using deep tissue massage techniques for patients in chronic pain and designing tailor made, progressive exercise programmes to maintain improvement and prevent problems from returning.
Claire has found the experience of working with the elderly particularly rewarding. Claire believes that improving mobility and strength in older people is key to maintaining quality of life and a pain free existence.
Claire Craven also works with new born and young babies for symptoms resulting from a traumatic or difficult birth, leaving the baby ‘unsettled’. Claire uses safe and very gentle techniques to release stresses and tension and calm the nervous system. (See Cranial Osteopathy).
Using these techniques alongside a direct osteopathic approach, Claire works with older children having developmental problems such as glue ear and osteochondritis.
Claire has long established associations, on a personal and professional level, with many sports including swimming and water polo. Working closely with individual athletes to treat and prevent injuries, recognising the importance of speedy rehabilitation and long lasting recovery.
During the last 18 years Claire has been employed at the British School of Osteopathy as part of the academic faculty and as an examiner. Claire is currently lecturing in the Practical Osteopathic skills department.
